"Deaf City Journal is the de facto Tribe Tapes Of America publication dedicated to international noise and industrial-adjacent artists at leisure – the focus is not strictly music but espousing the other interests and passions of those involved with such a niche movement. My desire for this is to be a showcase of artists I admire and make somewhat of a permanent archive of their work – interviews, essays, artwork, stories, photography, rants or what-have-you…
You are a participant in the international culture if you value the abstract, the strange and curious, the transgressions of everyday life. All is welcome and nothing is off limits
I plan for future editions of Deaf City Journal to include a music review section as well. If you are interested in contributing your sound work, feel free to mail any physical format releases to
Tribe Tapes C/O 1300 S Broad St PMB 30 Phila PA 19146 – All material will be written about!
No digital submissions are being accepted at this time, apologies…
On a similar note, the plan for Deaf City Journal is to keep this as a strictly physical compendium, with no digital PDFs being made available. I am quite proud of the 8.5” x 11” form factor of this magazine and the unwieldy presence it may occupy on your coffee table. I hope that it enthuses your guests or at the very least stimulates their curiosity for a brief moment.
I am also soliciting advert placements for future issues of Deaf City Journal

The next issue will hopefully be available before September 2026, I have already received submissions from Frans de Waard / Korm Plastics, Danny Propert / Legless, Alarum Books / Ineffable Slime, and “Killing Time” by C.B. Cobb is planned to be a recurring feature.
As a one-man operation, of course this release date may vary, but I would like for this to be at least a twice-per-year publication, possibly even more. My activities with Tribe Tapes occupy the bulk of my time but I am incredibly excited about this inaugural issue and what’s to come in the future.
THANK YOU for sharing an interest in this too, whether you’re a contributor, a supporter, or just flipping through this at someone else’s home. I welcome submissions for features though what actually gets published is up to my own discretion. It would be fun however to do a “letters to the editor” section in future issues. So if you’re reading this, please email me your thoughts! - MJE
